Borderlands Artifacts

Babocomari Ranch Artifact

Here’s an artifact that Gooch and Caleb found while measuring changes in vegetation within the Sonoita Plain. In the borderlands, finding artifacts left behind by unknown peoples can be a daily occurrence and something that we become desensitized over. Check out Megan Kimble’s enlightening article in the last edition of Edible Baja Arizona titled Carrying Capacity to learn more about migrants traveling through our corridor and the items they carry.

Our valued coworker and dear friend, David Seibert, is documenting these artifacts and the stories they hold in his doctoral dissertation (which he defends the day before Thanksgiving – Good Luck, David!!)
