2014 BECY Interns

It’s time to apply for 2015 Borderlands Earth Care Youth Institute. This is an amazing opportunity for local youth. Please share. APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 17.

The BECY Institute is available to local high school students ages 16 and up.  This year’s program runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from June 15-July 27.  Interns will focus on a variety of restoration projects throughout the Sonoita Creek Watershed commencing with an orientation hike up Red Mountain on June 15. Other important dates include: Take Action Camp at Windsong Peace & Leadership Center June 21-28, and a community graduation ceremony on the evening of July 27. Ongoing BECY Institute projects will focus on the following: development of the Watershed Living Laboratory at Patagonia Union High School, native plant nursery management, permaculture design process and sustainable living, native seed collection by federal protocols, sustainable farming and ranching techniques.
