Fall Planting Workdays – All Hands on Deck!

Posted on October 18, 2015 by Allegra Mount in Events, Volunteering

Join BR for fall plantings at Deep Dirt Farm Institute LLC on the following dates:

  • Tue October 20th – beginning at 8 am
  • Fri October 23rd beginning at 1 pm
Any donation of your time and hard work will be appreciated! The planting is planned to take advantage of the recent rains and the others that are supposed to gift us with moisture this fall/ winter/spring. We are focusing on establishing pollinator habitat, and getting some plants into the ground before it gets too cold. Thanks to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 1,000 plants from the BR Nursery will be planted in the upcoming week!
Activities: On Tuesday we will be planting into easily accessible areas where the plants will receive regular care and monitoring. The outliers will be planted on Friday in assign with existing water harvesting structures, and will receive minimal to no care following their planting.

Directions to DDFI: Turn off of Hwy 82 onto Steven’s Canyon Road, opposite the “RailXRanch” Estates just North of the town of Patagonia, AZ. Take the road past a number of cattle pens, and turn right where you see a rusty tractor engine marking the entrance to the farm. You may park near the greenhouse.
