Borderlands Nursery & Seed

Learn from Native Plant Program Director Francesca Claverie and Manager Perin McNelis about the importance of locally sourced, restoration-quality plants for ecological restoration. Talk about the tips and tricks for getting native seeds to germinate and the history behind plant selection for restoration projects. Learn about BRN's partnerships with Bat Conservation International and other groups dedicated to preserving the relationship between bats and agaves on the borderlands.

 

Participate in hands-on propagation activities, transplanting, or fieldwork. You will also enjoy the cats and dogs of the nursery, as they love hanging out with visitors!

 

Tour the Native Seed Lab and understand the efforts that go into spring and fall seed collection and curation. Learn about the importance of seed saving and how this work impacts the future of certain species.​
