YEAR END CAMPAIGN

Dear Friends, 

 

As the year draws to a close, I want to reflect on our incredible journey and the vital work still ahead. At Borderlands Restoration Network (BRN), we’re driven by a singular mission: to protect the life-giving ecosystems that define the Borderlands, restore habitat for plants and wildlife, and reconnect our communities to the land through shared learning.

 

2024 was a landmark year for BRN. Our programs built nearly 1,000 erosion control structures, propagated over 20,000 native plants, and logged thousands of volunteer hours in workshops, community events, and hands-on site work. We’ve expanded the Borderlands Wildlife Preserve by hundreds of acres and captured images of over 20 wildlife species, including a black bear—clear evidence that our efforts to strengthen vulnerable watersheds, restore native plants, and support wildlife habitats are working.

 

We purchased the 60-acre Borderlands Nursery & Seed farm, which will amplify our plant propagation efforts in the region. The nursery will soon add a new greenhouse to the farm, allowing us to expand public and partner projects, like our milkweed initiative with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, enhancing habitat for pollinators like the endangered monarch butterfly.

 

Our Borderlands Earth Care Youth program completed over 10 restoration projects across the region and received more than 28 hours of professional development from subject matter experts during their five-week program. They also contributed to developing our new Borderlands Earth Care Center, an environmental education hub and demonstration site for the region, designed to share restoration knowledge and foster community engagement.

 

Yet there is still so much more to do, and we’re looking to expand our capacity. BRN is building a future where humans and nature thrive together, and we invite you to be a part of that future.

Your year-end gift makes a difference by helping us to produce pollinator plants to restore habitat for wildlife and prevent soil erosion, support our community outreach and environmental education programs that inspire young people to become stewards of the land, and increase our restoration activities in vulnerable riparian habitats.
